Miguel Cuadra, New Doctoral Candidate, and Irene Garrido, Best Final Degree Project Award Sponsored by the IVIO Chair

The IVIO Chair at Campus Gandia of the Universitat Politècnica de València is ending the last quarter of the year with great news across all of its fields of activity. Among these, the commencement of the institution’s second doctoral dissertation stands out, one which will be carried out by Miguel Cuadra Castello.

In 2021, Josep Rodríguez Sendra presented the first doctoral dissertation under the Chair. In his dissertation he analyzed the process of tooth decay in the enamel and the dentin, while simultaneously developing a system for detecting complications in bone regeneration processes for the placement of implants. Using ultrasounds, he was able to propose methods that are able to improve diagnoses and, ultimately, the quality of care. The new doctoral dissertation will aim to apply the results obtained by Rodríguez Sendra in the laboratory to clinical studies.

Miguel Cuadra has a Bachelor’s Degree in Dentistry from the University of Valencia with a Master’s Degree in Periodontics, Implantology and Oral Surgery from the Valencian Institute of Dental Research (IVIO). His academic background, along with his professional experience as a dentist, will be essential for this new dissertation.

Irene Garrido is the recipient of the Best Final Degree Project Award in Telecommunications, Sound and Image Systems Engineering 2022-2023

In recent weeks, the chair has published the resolution of the Final Degree Project Award in Telecommunications, Sound and Image Systems Engineering. On this instance, the winner was Irene Garrido Cano. The IVIO Chair sponsors this award given to the student with the best academic record in the Degree in Telecommunications, Sound and Image Systems Engineering at the Gandia Campus, in the 2022-2023 term. With this, Garrido is the second person to receive this award, given last year to Ignacio García Marcos.

Sponsorship of the XI Conference on Technology at the Service of Health and Science Week

The IVIO-UPV Chair was one of the collaborating institutions in the XI Conference on Technology in the field of HEALTH, held on October 3rd. This place of encounter was aimed at professionals from various healthcare-related fields, including management as an opening topic to establish links that promote the search for sustainable healthcare models, based on efficiency and the application of personalized medicine. The conference, which was live streamed, was coordinated by Antonio Reig, professor at the UPV.

Another recent event sponsored by the IVIO-UPV Chair was Science Week of the Campus Gandia of the UPV. In this 19th edition, the organizing team held five workshops taught by students from the Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences to primary school students to spark their interest in science and technology. This edition also organized the photo exhibition on urban biodiversity “Bio & Urbe”.

Science Week, the XI Conference on Technology in the field of HEALTH or the Dentsply Sirona Workflow Gandia ’23 join the extensive list of events promoted by the IVIO-UPV Chair in its objective of promoting spaces for the meeting between professional and dissemination.
