The UniSalut 2023 program kicks off with the presentation of ideas for healthcare innovations and finding partners, as well the call for funding. The aim of UniSalut is to boost and fund the implementation of Preparatory Actions and Innovation Projects where researchers from the Miguel Hernández University (UMH), Jaume I University (UJI), and the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) participate jointly, with special focus on the Alcoi Campus and the Gandia Campus. It also focuses specifically on personnel from the accredited centers affiliated to the Fundació per al Foment de la Investigació Sanitària i Biomèdica de la Comunitat Valenciana (FISABIO), particularly from the Health Departments of Vinaròs, Castelló, La Plana, Sagunt, Requena, Valencia-Arnau de Vilanova-Llíria, Valencia-Doctor Peset, La Ribera, Xàtiva-Ontinyent, Alcoi, Elda, Gandia, Marina Baixa, Sant Joan d’Alacant, Elx General Hospital, Elx-Crevillent, Torrevieja, Orihuela, as well as FISABIO-Public Health, CV Transfusion Center, San Vicente Hospital, La Pedrera Hospital, Doctor Moliner Hospital, Pare Jofré Hospital, La Magdalena Hospital, FISABIO-Medical Ophthalmology and Hospital Intermutual de Levante (hereinafter FISABIO Centers).

You can also view the ideas presented https://unisalut.uji.es/ideas-presentadas/ and actively participate by collaborating in their implementation.
UniSalut Funding Opportunities
The call for funding is aimed at candidates working in research, medicine, biomedicine, biotechnology and business startups. UniSalut encompasses the three existing subprograms between the UPV, UMH, UJI and FISABIO, in a single call for applications. In the case of the UPV, the program is called Polisabio.
Until July 26, 2023, aid for preparatory actions and innovation projects can be requested through the website https://unisalut.uji.es/ayudas/ (Polisabio)
Seminar
An online seminar took place on June 20, 2023 to present the latest developments in the UniSalut program, as well as some instruments to fund the appreciation and transfer of the results in the healthcare setting.
Latest Developments
Funding is to continue for a minimum of 3 preparatory actions for both the Alcoi and Gandia campuses, provided that the proposals meet the basic quality requirements.
One Preparatory Action is guaranteed for a Fisabio center that has not obtained funding in the previous year, provided they meet the basic quality requirements.
This call for funding includes small inventory materials as eligible expenses in Preparatory Actions (with the exception of books) and the expenses related to the validation of medical devices and the request for authorizations from the AEMPS (taxes, insurance…).
The application evaluation criteria gives positive consideration to multi-institutional teams, participation of research staff from more than one university or Department of Health, both in preparatory actions and in innovation projects
In innovation projects, positive consideration will be given to an application if the principal investigators have presented the same project before and funding has not been granted, or if a call for funding has not yet been decided from a non-UniSalut subprogram.
Program Evolution
The Polisabio Partnership Program was launched in 2017 with the aim of generating synergies and stimulating new collaborations between researchers from the UPV and the staff of the Valencian Community Health Departments affiliated with FISABIO. Initially, the program was carried out jointly only between FISABIO and the Alcoi and Gandia Campuses, and their local hospitals. As a result of the success of the prior edition, the 2018 program was extended to the Vera campus and to the rest of the FISABIO centers in the province of Valencia. In 2019 ,the budget increased and more healthcare centers in Valencia and Alicante were incorporated, thus expanding this program to the entire Valencian Community. 2022 saw the launch of UniSalut, combining 3 existing bilateral subprograms between various institutions: Polisabio, Ujisabio and Ilisabio.
