Safor Salut and Ionclinics Drive Innovation in Non-Invasive Neuromodulation Projects

The “Safor Salut” cooperation program, a joint initiative by the Campus Gandia of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), FISABIOGandia Health Department, FISABIO-HACLE La Pedrera, and the Safor Federation of Business Associations (FAES), has hosted a co-creation workshop titled “Innovating in the Medical Application of Non-Invasive Neuromodulation”.

The event aimed to raise awareness about transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and encourage the development of research and innovation projects through collaboration between researchers, healthcare professionals, universities, businesses, and patient associations. Two potential areas of focus were identified: chronic pain and mental health.

During the workshop, Victoria González Gutiérrez, Medical Devices Manager at Ionclinics, a leading Valencian company in neuromodulation device development, discussed the scientific evidence and clinical practice outcomes of this technology. Her presentation was complemented by Dr. Francisco Mira’s insights on innovative treatments based on neuromodulation.

Later, Minerva Morales Rodríguez, President of AVAFI (Valencian Association of People Affected by Fibromyalgia), Luisa Arias Santiago, representative of AFISA (Fibromyalgia Association of La Safor), and Luisina Daives and Adèle Odienne from AMADEM (NGO for Mental Health in the Marina Alta), shared valuable insights from the patient’s perspective on both chronic pain and mental health conditions. They discussed the openness to adopting new treatments and highlighted innovative projects in which their patient associations are involved, all aimed at improving quality of life.

Finally, a collaborative co-creation session was held, where participants from across the Safor Salut network generated ideas for potential projects. The goal was to foster cooperation among all partners and develop innovative initiatives.

Representatives from Fisabio, Campus Gandia (UPV), the Federation of Business Associations of Safor (FAES), research staff from UPV and IBV, Gandia City Council, Gandia Health Department, Ribera Health Department, HACLE La Pedrera, Valencia Clínico-Malvarrosa Health Department, Vithas Medimar Hospital, as well as patient associations (Amadem, Afisa, and Avafi) and the company Ionclinics actively participated in the workshop. Furthermore, we received support from the consulting firm Aliasgroup..

INNOVATION AND HEALTHCARE CHALLENGES

Co-creation workshops are particularly focused on ideas that demand creativity and development, requiring the collaborative participation of multiple partners to bring them to fruition. These workshops gather professionals from diverse backgrounds to analyze the situation, encourage diverse perspectives, and propose their involvement in the development process, along with offering various solutions. Ultimately, these ideas are structured into one or several collaborative research or innovation projects.

NEW IDEAS AND CHALLENGES

If you have a project idea and require a partner from the healthcare, university, or business sector to execute it, submit your idea to saforsalut.es/ideas-retos. We’ll assist you in finding suitable partners.  Additionally, you can explore the ideas submitted by others and actively participate by contributing to their implementation.
