The IVIO-UPV Chair Is Extended, Participates in Science Week and Organizes the VI Awards for the Best TFG/TFM

2016 saw the birth of what would become one of the most fruitful public-private relationships of Campus Gandia of the Universitat Politècnica de València: the IVIO-UPV Chair. A new extension of the agreement between the Valencian Institute of Dental Research and the UPV was signed last September. Since it’s inception, it has established itself as a chair of reference in the dental field.

The innovative nature of the research carried out in the two main areas of work — use of ultrasound technology for oral implantology and the development of virtual reality and multisensory systems— require a completely multidisciplinary team like the one available at this institution, capable of meeting the needs of dental patients and dentists. The results of his research helps us improve oral implantology processes with non-invasive technology such as ultrasound, or simplify the process of inserting implants through virtual reality. In short, the IVIO-UPV Chair works for the well-being and health of the entire dental clinical environment.

Notwithstanding, the life of the chair transcends laboratory work and is closely linked to the campus and the entire city of Gandia. The 49th Meeting of the Center for Odonto-Stomatological Studies or the DS Workflow Gandia ’22 demonstrate of the will of the chair to turn the capital of La Safor into one of the cities of reference for any professional in the field. These events generate direct investments in the economic fabric of the city, promoting the development of meeting/congress tourism and the deseasonalization of visits to the destination.

The revalidation of the IVIO-UPV Chair for one more year entails maintaining a strong commitment to obtain the maximum benefits in the application of technology in oral health. All the successes achieved since the foundation of the chair bodes a future full of many more advances that will contribute to scientific, economic and social progress.

THE IVIO-UPV CHAIR PARTICIPATES IN THE 2022 SCIENCE WEEK AT CAMPUS GANDIA

From October 21st to November 11th, Campus Gandia hosted various events as part of Science Week. The event hosted an exhibition about the German naturalist, Alexander Von Humboldt, and a round table related to the exhibition. In addition, four workshops were held by the students in the Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences. These workshops were aimed at primary school students with the aim of promoting the development of environmental awareness through scientific experimentation.

The exhibition was attended by approximately 300 visitors and 40 secondary school students attended the round table, while around 80 students attended the workshops.

As part of its objectives of spreading interest in science and technology, the IVIO-UPV Chair has been partnering with Science Week for four years as a sponsor. On this occasion, it funded the official Science Week shirts. Pilar Sánchez, organizer of Science Week at Campus Gandia, values the collaboration of the chair as “very positive”.

LAST MONTH TO PARTICIPATE IN THE IVIO-UPV CHAIR AWARDS FOR THE BEST TFG/TFM 2022

The IVIO-UPV Chair continues with its recognition of the new graduates in the VI edition of the Best TFG/TFM Awards on Dental Technology. If you have defended your TFG or TFM on technology applied to dentistry this year, you have the possibility of winning a €1,000 prize to present it at a conference, symposium or meeting in the same field. You can become the sixth student to win this first-class academic award. You have until December 31, 2022 to submit your thesis. You can view the requirements here.
