{"id":9269,"date":"2019-02-20T10:43:27","date_gmt":"2019-02-20T09:43:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/?p=9269"},"modified":"2019-02-20T10:51:14","modified_gmt":"2019-02-20T09:51:14","slug":"sensors-computer-applications-and-new-surgical-techniques-applied-to-medicine-among-the-20-projects-selected-in-the-polisabio-call","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/en\/2019\/02\/sensors-computer-applications-and-new-surgical-techniques-applied-to-medicine-among-the-20-projects-selected-in-the-polisabio-call\/","title":{"rendered":"Sensors, Computer Applications and New Surgical Techniques Applied to Medicine Among the 20 Projects Selected in the Polisabio Call"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The 2nd edition of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/en\/categoria\/polisabio-en\/\">Polisabio<\/a><\/strong> program of grants for health innovation, joint initiative of the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/fisabio.san.gva.es\/en\/fisabio\">Foundation for the Promotion of Health and Biomedical Research of the Valencian Region (FISABIO) <\/a><\/strong>and the <strong>Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Val\u00e8ncia (UPV)<\/strong>, has pledged to promote 20 multidisciplinary projects that combine scientific knowledge and the latest technologies in the service of health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Six projects have been selected from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.upv.es\/contenidos\/CGANDIA\/index-en.html\"><strong>Campus Gandia of the UPV<\/strong><\/a>, applied to the <strong>treatment of mastitis, eye diseases, bone regeneration in dental implants, neuropsychological disorders, facial paralysis and blindness caused by ocular ischemic syndrome<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"750\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/ao_7648-copia-750x500.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9261\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/ao_7648-copia-750x500.jpg 750w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/ao_7648-copia-375x250.jpg 375w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/ao_7648-copia-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/ao_7648-copia-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/ao_7648-copia.jpg 1772w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The objective of this program is to <strong>explore synergies and formulate collaborations between researchers<\/strong> from the different UPV campuses (Gandia, Alcoi and Vera), and from the health departments of X\u00e0tiva-Ontinyent, Elda, Sant Joan d&#8217;Alacant, Marina Baixa , Gandia, Alcoi, Sagunt, Arnau de Vilanova, Requena and Dr. Peset, as well as Fisabio-Public Health and Fisabio-Medical Ophthalmology (FOM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two main subject areas in health innovation stand out in the selected projects: on the one part, the development of <strong>new biomarker detection systems<\/strong> that enable earlier diagnosis of diseases, whether using nanotechnological devices, ultrasounds or sophisticated biochemical analyzes. And on the other oart, the <strong>implementation of computer systems, including mobile applications and artificial intelligence <\/strong>processes, for better management and\/or analysis of clinical data to improve medical decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"750\" height=\"500\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The remaining projects propose improvements in areas such as the transport of biological samples, surgical techniques, improved medical materials and the clinical use of probiotic microorganisms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PROJECTS SELECTED FROM CAMPUS GANDIA<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DIAGMAS: <\/strong>development of a rapid detection system for bacterial infection in lactating women with mastitis through analysis of biomarkers in milk and urine (Alejandro Mira Obrador, Fisabio Salud P\u00fablica \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.upv.es\/pls\/oalu\/sic_person.Info?p_alias=mocaic&amp;P_IDIOMA=i\">M\u00f3nica Catal\u00e1 Icardo<\/a>, UPV-Gandia).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>OCUSENSOR: <\/strong>nanophotonic sensors for the diagnosis of ocular diseases (Mar\u00eda Dolores Pinazo Dur\u00e1n, Santiago Grisol\u00eda Ophthalmological Unit of the Dr. Peset Hospital, &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.upv.es\/pls\/oalu\/sic_person.Info?p_alias=jaigarru&amp;P_IDIOMA=i\">Jaime Garcia Rup\u00e9rez<\/a>, UPV-Gandia).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>OSEODENT: <\/strong>ultrasound monitoring of the guided bone regeneration process in dental implants (Vicente Enguix Morant, DS Gandia, Dentistry &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.upv.es\/pls\/oalu\/sic_person.Info?p_alias=rpico&amp;P_IDIOMA=i\">Rub\u00e9n Pic\u00f3 Vila<\/a>, UPV-Gandia).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>GEINEN: <\/strong>cloud computing application for the comprehensive management of neuropsychological explorations (Helena Vico Bondia, Dr. Peset Hospital &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.upv.es\/pls\/oalu\/sic_person.Info?p_alias=fevibon&amp;P_IDIOMA=i\">Felipe Vico Bondia<\/a>, UPV-Gandia).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PARAFACIAL: <\/strong>creating and evaluating a computer application for the precise diagnosis, using artificial vision techniques, of facial movement alterations that occur in facial paralysis (Rosa Mu\u00f1oz Gregori, Francesc de Borja Hospital, Rehabilitation \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.upv.es\/pls\/oalu\/sic_person.Info?p_alias=fboronat&amp;P_IDIOMA=i\">Fernando Boronat Segu\u00ed<\/a>, UPV-Gandia).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>USOFT: <\/strong>adapting ultrasound application technology for the treatment of blindness caused by ocular ischemic syndrome (Enrique Antonio Alfonso Mu\u00f1oz, Fisabio-Medical Ophthalmology \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.upv.es\/pls\/oalu\/sic_person.Info?p_alias=rpico&amp;P_IDIOMA=i\">Rub\u00e9n Pic\u00f3 Vila<\/a>, UPV-Gandia).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The next phase will be to work to ensure that these proposals approved by Polisabio will give rise to projects that are  capable of attracting public and private investment from national and international calls, among others the <strong>H2020
