The international project was coordinated by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usaid.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>UNESCO- IHE Institute for Water Education<\/strong><\/a> (Netherlands), with the participation of other universities in Tanzania. The project is promoted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usaid.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>United States Agency for International Development<\/strong><\/a>, under the coordination of the renowned Professor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unesco-ihe.org\/michael-mcclain\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Michael McClain<\/strong><\/a>, with extensive international experience in water-related studies.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4182\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4182\" style=\"width: 630px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4182\" src=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/marinez-capel-michael-mcclain.jpg\" alt=\"Marinez-Capel \/ Michael McClain\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/marinez-capel-michael-mcclain.jpg 640w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/marinez-capel-michael-mcclain-333x250.jpg 333w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/marinez-capel-michael-mcclain-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/marinez-capel-michael-mcclain-150x113.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4182\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Marinez-Capel \/ Michael McClain<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">The ultimate goal is to establish <strong>new infrastructure and irrigation<\/strong> in this area of Tanzania, so as to contribute to the development of this country and its food safety, while making it compatible with the conservation of the tremendous natural wealth of the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The team from the <strong>Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Val\u00e8ncia<\/strong> has played an important role in determining t<strong>he environmental flows of the rivers<\/strong>, which are in charge of maintaining the high biodiversity of these ecosystems. This meant a series of field trips to study the tropical fish, interview local fishermen and share information with the scientists and technicians involved in the project, according to explanations by the researcher Mart\u00ednez-Capel. Along with Martinez Capel from Campus Gandia, the researchers <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.upv.es\/pls\/oalu\/sic_per.info_persona?PE=78mSD%2FYIsTiW41hrFs%2BZVacjVdzMoFNNTITwlodA9qtF5qfM5p60C3aFOtRc0p0z20sXAHgpLohoD0wvUzsh31Nuf%2Fr3qCt37aAlCISBzwLvxPZYaaFAcQ%3D%3D&amp;P_TIPOBUS=0&amp;P_VISTA=&amp;P_IDIOMA=i\">Rafael Mu\u00f1oz-Mas <\/a><\/strong>and <strong>Carlos Puig<\/strong> also participated in the project.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1OVoSqSLgVU?rel=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">COORDINATOR OF THE ECOHYDRAULIC COMMITTEE<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">Furthermore, the researcher Francisco Mart\u00ednez-Capel has been named this year&#8217;s coordinator of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iahr.org\/site\/cms\/contentChapterView.asp?chapter=1\">IAHR<\/a> Ecohydraulics Committee<\/strong>, which conducts scientific collaborations among researchers from five continents in this field and mainly studies the relationships between aquatic organisms and riverbank vegetation with the streamflow in rivers and
