{"id":3918,"date":"2016-03-02T08:40:27","date_gmt":"2016-03-02T07:40:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/en\/?p=3918"},"modified":"2017-01-17T10:34:00","modified_gmt":"2017-01-17T09:34:00","slug":"science-up-close-and-personal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/en\/2016\/03\/science-up-close-and-personal\/","title":{"rendered":"Science, Up Close and Personal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Campus Gandia of the Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Val\u00e8ncia is pleased to announce the launch of <strong>&#8220;Science, Up Close and Personal&#8221;<\/strong>, a new project aimed at <strong>promoting scientific culture, technology and innovation<\/strong> among the general public, as well as university and pre-students, in particular.<\/p>\n<p>The project comprises three main activities;<strong> two television program sections and one radio program section<\/strong>. All the created content will be s<strong>hared on social media and will be distributed through various online platforms<\/strong>. The aim is to bring science and innovation closer to everyday life, and promote understanding of scientific concepts and phenomena, highlighting the social uses of scientific and technological advances.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>TELEVISION AND BROADCAST MEDIA<\/p>\n<p>The first <strong>scientific dissemination<\/strong> activity is the production of two new sections in the Gandia Campus television program,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/telegrafies.blogspot.com.es\/\" target=\"_blank\">Telegrafies.<\/a><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/TXnRMbsi_wA?rel=0\" width=\"100%\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Each week <strong>from February to May 2016<\/strong>, Telegrafies will incorporate two new sections to its programming dedicated to scientific developments, the day-to-day life of the research scientists on Campus, or the technological advances coming out of our laboratories. Telegraf\u00edes will transmit a total of <strong>12 programs<\/strong>, making for a total of <strong>24 reports about scientific dissemination<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The complete programs will be broadcast on <strong>Tele7Safor<\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.upv.es\/rtv\/tv\/telegrafies\/56123\" target=\"_blank\">UPV TV<\/a><\/strong> , and on <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/telegrafies.blogspot.com.es\/\" target=\"_blank\">Telegrafies<\/a><\/strong>&#8216; own website. It is worth recalling that the program, whose production team is made up by <strong>Audiovisual Communication<\/strong> students and broadcast professionals and technicians from the Campus Gandia, <a href=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/en\/2015\/02\/telegrafies-bringing-you-science-for-five-years\/\" target=\"_blank\">celebrates its tenth season this year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The two sections that are included in Telegrafies are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PLKGw2woJIOY27-AKi0NH8UaiwQ8NJ6QB3\" target=\"_blank\">#UPVGandiaCiencia:<\/a> <\/strong>A section targeted to the general public in which research scientists give an <strong>up close look<\/strong> at the activity of their groups or their projects. This section started filming in 2015 and has been very well received.<\/li>\n<li>&#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PLKGw2woJIOY01eGShgEvx1-aVttQhUQ8l\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Diary Of<\/strong>&#8216;:<\/a> up close and personal with research scientists The focus of this section is the personal experience, not just the number of years they have been researching, but stories about their <strong>daily trials and tribulations<\/strong>. We will interview important and established research scientists from our university, as well as young scientists on research stay at Campus Gandia, students working on their undergraduate and Master&#8217;s thesis focusing on research or innovation, graduates working in R&amp;D, or Postdocs from Gandia conducting research stays in other countries.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>SUBTITLES AND TRILINGUAL CONTENT<\/p>\n<p>The audiovisual content will be subtitled in English, Spanish and Valencian. The subtitles will be added to all of the reports uploaded to the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/CampusdeGandia\" target=\"_blank\">YouTube<\/a><\/strong> channel. This content, like everything published on this website, will be shared subsequently on Facebook and Twitter in different languages.<\/p>\n<p>RADIO AND PODCAST<\/p>\n<p><strong>The second major part of this project<\/strong> is a new section that will be included in the programming of <strong>Radio Gandia SER<\/strong>. We will convey the culture of hard work and effort that has driven these scientists to achieving their goals.<\/li>\n<li><strong>News<\/strong> on research carried out at the UPV, especially Campus Gandia.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Opinion interviews <\/strong>with research scientist from the UPV on a current issue or event: climate change, international day of noise, endangered species&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>At least four of the interviews will be conducted by<strong> 2nd year baccalaureate students from the Escolapias school in Gandia<\/strong>, with the aim of reaching a younger audience and encouraging scientific vocations.<\/li>\n<li>The radio audience can engage with the program prior to broadcast on Twitter with the hashtag <strong>#HoyCienciaGandia<\/strong>, where they can also suggest topics, ask questions or express their views.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The program will be hosted by the well-known and seasoned journalist, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/about.me\/purinaya\" target=\"_blank\">Puri Naya<\/a><\/strong>, who also hosts the radio show &#8220;Hoy por hoy Gandia&#8221;. The section\/program will be produced on both the Campus and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.radiogandia.net\/noticias-cadena-ser\/19330-.html\"><strong>Radio Gandia SER<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0facilities, with the help and support of the Campus staff, faculty, research staff and students of the UPV, with the aim of also training future science popularizers. <a href=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/en\/2016\/11\/programes-ciencia-propera\/\">A<strong> total of 12 programs will be broadcast<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The programs can be<strong> listened to live<\/strong> on the day of broadcast on the usual Radio Gandia channels <strong>(radio, web and mobile app)<\/strong> and a special <strong>podcast<\/strong> section will be created on the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ivoox.com\/podcast-ciencia-propera_sq_f1312173_1.html\">iVoox<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/ciencia-propera\/id1162110438\">iTunes<\/a><\/strong> platforms. The aim is to <strong>bring science and innovation closer to everyday life<\/strong>, and promote understanding of scientific concepts and phenomena, highlighting the social uses of scientific and technological advances.<\/p>\n<p>We spend an average of 3-4 hours a day watching television, and many others listening to the radio or browsing the web. And the little <strong>science<\/strong> that does come up during that time should be treated with l<strong>ove, respect and tremendous rigor<\/strong>; this is our goal.<\/p>\n<hr
