What role do materials play in the construction of a guitar? Can scientific research help improve a musical instrument? These are some of the questions that will be explored by <a href=\"https:\/\/sonarte.webs.upv.es\/\"><strong>SONARTE: Science and Lutherie in Dialogue<\/strong><\/a>, an initiative promoted by the Gandia Campus of the Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Val\u00e8ncia (UPV) that invites participants to discover the connections between science, technology, music and craftsmanship. The project is funded by the <strong>Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT)<\/strong> of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1080\" height=\"1350\" src=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Cartel-Sonarte-CAST.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26776\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SONARTE was created with the aim of bringing scientific, technological and innovation culture closer to society, particularly students, teachers, music professionals and anyone interested in learning how musical instruments are built and studied from an interdisciplinary perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The initiative is led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upv.es\/pls\/oalu\/sic_person.Info?p_alias=rpico&amp;P_IDIOMA=i\"><strong>Rub\u00e9n Pic\u00f3<\/strong><\/a>, a researcher at the Gandia Campus and specialist in musical acoustics, together with a team of researchers and technical staff from the Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Val\u00e8ncia, Universitat de Val\u00e8ncia, the Conservatory of Music of Valencia, and the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. It also includes the participation of highly respected luthiers from Valencia, Barcelona and Cremona (Italy), a city internationally renowned for its tradition of instrument making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>SONARTE Programme<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Registration Now Open<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From <strong>9 to 12 November<\/strong>, SONARTE will offer a <strong>free programme open to the public<\/strong>, aimed at different audiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Monday, 9 November<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>6:00 p.m. | Opening Concert: &#8220;The Sound of the Wind&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Performed by <strong>Almudena Mart\u00edn Castro<\/strong>. The initiative aims to become a meeting point for researchers, students, musicians, luthiers and the general public, showing how scientific knowledge can enrich artistic creation and open new opportunities for learning and innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All activities are free of charge, but prior registration is required depending on the target audience.
