Today we start sharing a series of videos on our blog where you can learn a little more about the research staff at the Campus Gandia of the Polytechnic University of Valencia and their daily work. With the title “Day-to-day Research”<\/a>, we’ll find out about the problems, joys and challenges faced when carrying out research activity. Our first subject is Paola Vezza, a Civil Engineer and Researcher from the Polytechnic University of Turin who has been conducting research in the Research Institute for Integrated Coastal Zone Management (IGIC) on the Campus Gandia of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, with a Marie Curie Grant. His postdoctoral research project, “HolRiverMed<\/a>” (\u00abEnvironmental River Management: An Innovative Holistic Approach for Mediterranean Streams\u00bb), consisted of the creation of models and methods for sustainable management of water resources. This two-year scientific initiative was coordinated by the Polytechnic University of Valencia (professor and researcher Francisco Mart\u00ednez Capel). According Vezza, the field work with biologists is “fun” for an engineer because of the different approaches in each discipline. And he notes that if you want to do something to improve the natural environment it must be done “with passion and fighting so that your work will be useful and it can be applied”. The best part of researching, the greatest satisfaction is seeing your ideas take developed, “that what you’ve built over the years will serve somebody,” he concludes.<\/p>\n
