{"id":2124,"date":"2014-10-01T08:53:43","date_gmt":"2014-10-01T06:53:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/?p=2124"},"modified":"2015-01-14T08:58:45","modified_gmt":"2015-01-14T07:58:45","slug":"open-access-what-you-need-to-consider-before-publishing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/en\/2014\/10\/open-access-what-you-need-to-consider-before-publishing\/","title":{"rendered":"Open Access: What You Need to Consider Before Publishing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--:es--><\/p>\n<p>Before deciding to make your <strong>research results<\/strong> of your investigation public and visible, you should pay close attention to several issues regarding <strong>open access<\/strong> publications:<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Note that according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/programmes\/horizon2020\/en\/what-horizon-2020\">Horizon 2020<\/a> program, researchers who receive <strong>public funding<\/strong> for their research (such as the <a href=\"http:\/\/poliscience.blogs.upv.es\/2013\/11\/11\/espana-nuevo-mandato-de-acceso-abierto-en-las-convocatorias-de-ayudas-de-investigacion\/\" target=\"_blank\">State Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2013-2016<\/a>), <strong>should ensure open access<\/strong> to all\u00a0 peer-reviewed scientific communication.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Always check the <strong>journal&#8217;s editorial policy <\/strong>regarding open publication. We Recommend the following resources:\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.accesoabierto.net\/dulcinea\/\">Dulcinea Directory<\/a>: for Spanish journals<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sherpa.ac.uk\/romeo\/?la=es\">Sherpa\/Romeo Directory<\/a>: for international journals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>If the journal does not allow you to self-archive some version of the article (author version and publisher version) or you have questions regarding <strong>copyright<\/strong>, you can review the <strong>agreements with the publisher<\/strong> and even include addendum in the contracts. <a href=\"http:\/\/poliscience.blogs.upv.es\/derechos-de-autor\/recomendaciones\/\">PoliScience<\/a> has issued <a href=\"http:\/\/poliscience.blogs.upv.es\/derechos-de-autor\/recomendaciones\/\">recommendations<\/a> that include examples of model contracts or addendums.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Never publish in calls from <a href=\"http:\/\/poliscience.blogs.upv.es\/open-access\/publicar\/donde-no-publicar-editores-depredadores\/\"><strong>Predatory Publishers<\/strong>,<\/a> publishers who base their business model on publishing articles without offering minimum guarantees. You can consult <a href=\"http:\/\/scholarlyoa.com\/2014\/01\/02\/list-of-predatory-publishers-2014\/\">an updated list<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Horizon 2020 has a pilot program for depositing research data in Open Access, Open Research Data Pilot, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/programmes\/horizon2020\/sites\/horizon2020\/files\/FactSheet_Open_Access.pdf\">Open Research Data
