Campus Gandia<\/a> of the Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Val\u00e8ncia<\/a> (UPV<\/a>) launches the new PhD Program in Marine and Coastal Science and Technology<\/a> starting in the 2022-2023 term.<\/p>\n

Education in science and applications for the marine and coastal environment<\/strong><\/p>\n

The PhD Program in Marine and Coastal Science and Technology is aimed at advanced students with an interest researching <\/strong>the various relevant scientific and technological aspects of effective and sustainable management of marine and coastal areas<\/strong>. In this context, there are different lines of research promoting the advancement of new procedures, methodologies and techniques that enable better management of the coastal and maritime environment, taking into account sociological, ecological and environmental aspects<\/strong>, as well as efficiency in resource management.<\/p>\n

The program covers several lines of research<\/strong>: electronic devices, telematic networks and artificial intelligence techniques for monitoring marine and coastal environments; observation methodologies and modeling of marine ecosystems; oceanography, fisheries management and modeling of fluvial habitats and new materials for the control of the acoustic field, and acoustic simulation, with application for the marine and coastal environment.<\/p>\n

Expert and academic staff at the UPV<\/strong><\/p>\n

The director of Campus Gandia, Jes\u00fas Alba<\/a>, stresses that “this campus has been looking to the sea for years: the Mixed Unit with the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO), its 10-year renewal and the expansion of the sheds<\/a>, the Institute of Research for the Integrated Management of Coastal Zones (IGIC), the University Master’s Degree in Environmental Assessment and Monitoring of Marine and Coastal Ecosystems.\u201d and finally .\u201cthe Doctoral Program in Marine and Coastal Science and Technology, which will be the first Doctoral Program at Campus Gandia.”<\/p>\n

This new program, offered by the UPV’s PhD School and based at Campus Gandia starting in September, “is administrated by an academic committee made up of prestigious expert and research staff from the campus, from the Research Institute for the Integrated Management of Coastal Zones (IGIC), as well as scientific personnel belonging to other research structures of the UPV,\u201daccording to Rub\u00e9n Pic\u00f3<\/a>, coordinator of the PhD Program in Marine and Coastal Science and Technology.<\/p>\n
