{"id":15895,"date":"2022-05-10T15:19:49","date_gmt":"2022-05-10T13:19:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/?p=15895"},"modified":"2022-05-10T15:20:36","modified_gmt":"2022-05-10T13:20:36","slug":"more-marine-research-facilities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/en\/2022\/05\/more-marine-research-facilities\/","title":{"rendered":"More Marine Research Facilities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An agreement signed between the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.upv.es\/en\">Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Val\u00e8ncia (UPV)<\/a> and the Port Authority of Valencia will allow the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.upv.es\/contenidos\/CGANDIA\/index-en.html\">Gandia Campus<\/a> to occupy sheds 6, 7 and 8, in the Port of Gandia Fruit Dock. This space, which has a surface area of more than 900 m\u00b2, will represent the <strong>expansion and improvement of the university facilities dedicated to marine research<\/strong>, headquarters of the Joint Research Unit in Technology for Marine Studies (UTEM, for its Spanish initials). The Campus expects them to be fully operational this year.<\/p>\n<p>As stated by the rector of the UPV, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.upv.es\/pls\/oalu\/sic_person.info?PE=78mSD%2FYIsThIXpfQN3JH7p6gE%2FQDWNgGXr3hqV13yuz0i7lVQyCjFXaFOtRc0p0z2sJN7apT0ZyOGCCElBdc7WkWrtXbzmDp5JbWVszEyHQ%3D&amp;P_IDIOMA=i&amp;P_VISTA=\">Jos\u00e9 E. Capilla<\/a>, &#8220;the signing of this agreement demonstrates the will of the UPV to expand the collaboration it maintains with the Port Authority of Valencia&#8221;. In addition to &#8220;<strong>enhancing the education and research<\/strong> carried out at Campus Gandia.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>For his part, the president of the Port Authority of Valencia, Aurelio Mart\u00ednez, pointed out that this agreement \u201creinforces relations with the UPV and the field of marine research.\u201d Likewise, &#8220;it opens the possibility of <strong>new lines of transversal research on cetaceans<\/strong>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15882\" src=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Imagen-Ndp-1copia.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Imagen-Ndp-1copia.jpg 640w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Imagen-Ndp-1copia-333x250.jpg 333w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Imagen-Ndp-1copia-150x113.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>FACILITIES DEDICATED TO MARINE RESEARCH<\/p>\n<p>Currently, the UPV has an administrative authorization, granted in May 2020, to occupy the Sheds 4 and 5, but had made a request to the Port Authority to transfer to Sheds 6, 7 and 8 due to the need to expand and <strong>improve the facilities of the<\/strong> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/en\/?s=IGIC\">Campus Gandia<\/a> and the Spanish Institute of Oceanography through the Mixed Unit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Campus Gandia has been looking out to the sea for years, both in research and education. We have various <strong>degree programs that will benefit from this growth<\/strong> and improvement to facilities. The Campus will grow even more thanks to this agreement,&#8221; said <a href=\"http:\/\/www.upv.es\/pls\/oalu\/sic_per.info_persona?PE=Z7a6R0gGVjW9wC1zvW0EU738iAsokMPshKN2PFPlMVP0i7lVQyCjFXaFOtRc0p0zOgYvVM1ntsbIamxxk8TBWjUQdrWI8UahtJhaoJkqHtKCp%2BwyEkvrXw%3D%3D&amp;P_IDIOMA=i&amp;P_TIPOBUS=0&amp;P_VISTA=\">Jes\u00fas Alba<\/a>, Campus Gandia Director.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, for the mayor of Gandia, Jos\u00e9 Manuel Prieto, this agreement \u201cis a first step towards interaction with the city, f<strong>or the benefit of innovation and to create opportunities<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-15909\" src=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Tinglados-Blanca-ret1-copia.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1229\" height=\"422\" \/><\/p>\n<p>UTEM HEADQUARTERS<\/p>\n<p>The new facilities that the UPV will occupy will<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/en\/2015\/01\/the-igic-research-institute-makes-of-the-campus-of-gandia-an-international-reference-point\/\"> headquarter the Mixed Research Unit in Technology for Marine Studies (UTEM)<\/a><\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/en\/2015\/01\/the-igic-research-institute-makes-of-the-campus-of-gandia-an-international-reference-point\/\">created between the Spanish Institute of Oceanography and the UPV<\/a>. Plans, projects and joint actions are being developed in order to <strong>promote oceanography, the marine environment and the efficient and sustainable use of fishing and aquaculture
