This prize, valued at \u20ac1,000, will permit him to present the conclusions of his Final Degree Project at a congress, symposium or specialized seminar in the field of dental technology.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-15710 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/ivio2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"287\" height=\"235\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/ivio2.jpeg 551w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/ivio2-305x250.jpeg 305w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/ivio2-150x123.jpeg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 287px) 100vw, 287px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The winner presented his candidacy after his TFG tutor, <strong>Dr. Rut Benavente<\/strong>, encouraged him to apply. His thesis project focused on the <strong>study and characterization of zirconia-based dental ceramics<\/strong>. It has consisted of comparing the properties of the material obtained by means of the conventional sintering manufacturing process in an oven and that achieved in a non-conventional system using microwave technology. The results have been very promising, confirming that <strong>microwave technology reduces processing times as well as the amount of energy used, in addition to producing a ceramic with superior properties compared to the ones achieved with the conventional method<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Serrano, a native of Cartagena, had an early calling for engineering, motivated by his excitement for technology and close family ties to this field, given that both his father and brother are industrial engineers. He describes this award as &#8220;a source of pride&#8221; and thinks that the success of his TFG is a reflection of the <strong>high quality of education at the university.<\/strong> &#8220;The UPV prepares its students very well, which in the end translates into a lot of effort and dedication. It&#8217;s comforting to see how everything turned out so well in the end.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Currently, he is studying a Master&#8217;s Degree in Industrial Engineering at the UPV. Although his professional aspirations include working in a big company in the materials or energy sector, the positive experience of his TFG has sparked many new interests and he does not rule out devoting himself to research.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-15713 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/ivio5.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"410\" height=\"293\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/ivio5.jpeg 824w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/ivio5-350x250.jpeg 350w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/ivio5-699x500.jpeg 699w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/ivio5-768x549.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/ivio5-150x107.jpeg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 410px) 100vw, 410px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Jorge Serrano is the fifth winner of an award that is enormously useful for highlighting the outstanding work carried out by the winners, but it also represents a fundamental boost for starting put in teaching careers or searching for jobs. It has come to be regarded as one of the most prestigious and significant awards in the field of dental technology nationwide, demonstrating the <strong>commitment of the IVIO-UPV Chair to the development and positioning of young researchers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Chair is already screening for <strong>the best TFG or TFM of 2022 related to dental technology<\/strong>.
