The UPV rector <strong>Jos\u00e9 Esteban Capilla<\/strong>, alongside other personalities, attended the swearing-in ceremony of the new Minister.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14492\" src=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/1-Diana-Morant-toma-de-posesio\u0301n-ministra.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/1-Diana-Morant-toma-de-posesio\u0301n-ministra.jpg 640w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/1-Diana-Morant-toma-de-posesio\u0301n-ministra-376x250.jpg 376w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/1-Diana-Morant-toma-de-posesio\u0301n-ministra-150x100.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Up until her appointment as Minister, <strong>Diana Morant<\/strong> was the of mayor of Gandia for six years, resigning from this post to take over the ministry. <strong>Morant<\/strong> stated that she will work for, &#8220;a green and digital transition, which ensures equality and social cohesion and leaves no one behind.&#8221; The Minister assures that she wants &#8220;to continue the transformation, from another dimension, of the mechanisms and conditions that will lead us to a more prosperous, happy and sustainable future for everyone.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6W20R9yG9JM\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Collaboration with the UPV<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During her term as mayor, <strong>Morant<\/strong> stood out for her commitment to science and innovation and for her collaboration with the PUniversitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Val\u00e8ncia and its nearest campus, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.upv.es\/contenidos\/CGANDIA\/index-en.html\">Campus Gandia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The now former mayor was committed to making <a href=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/en\/2016\/09\/gandia-earns-the-distinction-of-city-of-science-and-innovation\/\">Gandia a City of Science and Innovation<\/a> and to turning the town into a Smart City with the support of the University. She has also stood behind initiatives such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/en\/2018\/04\/upv-and-the-city-of-gandia-strengthen-their-commitment-to-smart-tourism\/\">Gandia Smart Tourism Chair<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/en\/2017\/04\/comunica2-awarded-for-its-commitment-to-innovation-and-quality-tourism\/\">Comunica2 International Communication and Technology Conference<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/gandia.es\/aytg\/web_php\/index.php?contenido=noticia_desc&amp;id=1501&amp;lang=10\">Gandia Smart Tourism Conference<\/a><strong>,<\/strong> the Innovation Chair and<a href=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/en\/categoria\/safor-salut-en\/\"> Safor Salut<\/a>, among others.<\/p>\n<p>The close working relationship between the Gandia City Council and the UPV can be evidenced in other areas, such as the recent agreement for the construction of a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.upv.es\/contenidos\/CGANDIA\/noticiaf_1162179i.html\">sports pavilion to be used jointly by the university community and the public<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-14495\" src=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/firma-rector-pabellon-deportivo-universitario-717x500.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"717\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/firma-rector-pabellon-deportivo-universitario-717x500.jpg 717w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/firma-rector-pabellon-deportivo-universitario-359x250.jpg 359w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/firma-rector-pabellon-deportivo-universitario-768x535.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/firma-rector-pabellon-deportivo-universitario-1536x1071.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/firma-rector-pabellon-deportivo-universitario-150x105.jpg 150w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/firma-rector-pabellon-deportivo-universitario.jpg 1772w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 717px) 100vw, 717px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Support of the Rector<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Rector of the UPV, <strong>Jos\u00e9 Esteban Capilla<\/strong>, wanted to be by <strong>Diana Morant<\/strong>&#8216;s side for her oath of office in Madrid. For the rector, \u201cThe UPV should be proud of the recent appointment of Diana Morant as Minister of Science and Innovation. A graduate of the Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Val\u00e8ncia will now be in charge of handling the largest R&amp;D budget in the history of Spain. In addition, the Minister is a person who is fully in line with the UPV, as seen in the recent joint agreement signed between the UPV and the Gandia City Council to build a joint sports center. The UPV will always be there for the Minister and her ministry in its mission to increase investment in R&amp;D&amp;I in Spain.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For his part, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.upv.es\/ficha-personal\/jesalba\">Jes\u00fas Alba<\/a><\/strong>, director of Campus Gandia of the UPV, has made a very positive appraisal of <strong>Diana Morant<\/strong>, \u201cWe have worked together for a number of years on many projects related to science and innovation, always leading the way and with great vision for the future. She&#8217;s a person who, in addition to being educated at the UPV, has proven her worth in many areas of the portfolio she has just taken over.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It should be noted that <strong>Diana Morant<\/strong> received the ministerial portfolio from her predecessor, the astronaut <strong>Pedro Duque<\/strong>, <a
