The project<strong> lays the foundations for the connected ports of the futur<\/strong>e,\u201daccording to its coordinator, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/intranet.upv.es\/pls\/soalu\/sic_per.info_persona?PE=K5MRNhA8C7iIxUdK09j4%2B0n3QaxP2SoRH5NwRzpJUMT0i7lVQyCjFXaFOtRc0p0zo8ZhUQOKYmfLmaO%2B%2FH0iET30jsXXPyQRSfdBrE%2FZKhHhyt%2FFoiUIfQ%3D%3D&amp;P_IDIOMA=i&amp;P_TIPOBUS=0&amp;P_VISTA=normal\">David G\u00f3mez<\/a><\/strong>, an expert in 5G.<\/p>\n<p>The researcher points out that 5G for the Internet of Things makes it possible not only to transmit at very high data rates, but also to transmit with very low latency or response time, and massive transmissions to sensors; and Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain allow huge amounts of data to be exploited to optimize logistics processes and improve their traceability.<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE PORT OF VALENCIA, THE MAIN TEST SCENARIO<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The main project scenario is the Port of Valencia, where different pilot tests will be carried out. The <strong>Valenciaport Foundation<\/strong> an<strong>d Cosco Shipping Lines (Spain)<\/strong> are also participating in the project, and the Spanish consortium Telef\u00f3nica, Nokia, Asti Mobile Robotics, Neurodigital and Fivecomm round out the project.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-14055\" src=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/puerto-de-valencia_puertos-conectados-938x500.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"726\" height=\"387\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/puerto-de-valencia_puertos-conectados-938x500.jpg 938w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/puerto-de-valencia_puertos-conectados-469x250.jpg 469w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/puerto-de-valencia_puertos-conectados-768x410.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/puerto-de-valencia_puertos-conectados-150x80.jpg 150w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/puerto-de-valencia_puertos-conectados.jpg 1500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 726px) 100vw, 726px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The <strong>IoT<\/strong> developed at INGENIOUS will facilitate the work of port operators, who will be able to control the transport of containers inside the terminals using robots connected with 5G technology and an immersive solution combining virtual reality and augmented reality with the sense of touch,&#8221; explains Jos\u00e9 Luis C\u00e1rcel, specialist in Digital Transformation at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fundacion.valenciaport.com\/\">Valenciaport Foundation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Another challenge that arises is the continuous monitoring of the transport conditions of the cargo along their route, from their origin to their destination, using neuromorphic sensors as well as satellite location devices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn this use case, we will carry out a multimodal freight transport test that includes a sea route between the Port of Valencia and the port of Piraeus, in Greece. During the entire journey, we will obtain different data about the state of the container, such as geolocation, temperature, humidity, etc. practically in real time. Furthermore, a series of alarms will be determined that will warn us of possible accidents or unwanted events in the container such as knocks or unforeseen doors opening,\u201d explains Pedro Perez, BPS and Quality Assistant at <a href=\"https:\/\/world.lines.coscoshipping.com\/spain\/es\/home\">Cosco Shipping Lines Spain<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The project will also apply <strong>Artificial Intelligence<\/strong> techniques to predict both the arrival and departure of cargo ships, as well as to monitor and optimize the entry and circulation of trucks through port facilities. In the same way, INGENIOUS IoT will explore the interoperability between different <strong>Blockchain<\/strong> solutions in order to improve the traceability of cargo and the different events carried out in different logistics-port processes.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14052\" src=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/1-cosco-shipping_puertos-conectados.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"385\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/1-cosco-shipping_puertos-conectados.jpg 640w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/1-cosco-shipping_puertos-conectados-416x250.jpg 416w, https:\/\/cienciagandia.webs.upv.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/1-cosco-shipping_puertos-conectados-150x90.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In the future the containers will be equipped with sensors, as well as the means of transport and, applying Artificial Intelligence techniques, we will be able to process all the information in real time and this way optimize the laytime period of ships and trucks in ports, reducing the cargo loading and unloading times as much as possible,\u201d explains <strong>Joan Meseguer<\/strong>, specialist in Digital Transformation at Fundaci\u00f3n Valenciaport.<\/p>\n<p>The project, in which a total of 21 partners participate, has a budget of 8 million euros, funded by the Horizon2020 program of the European Union.
