This profile must be complete and updated, so experts recommend that you update it and check it regularly for possible errors and duplications.<\/p>\n<p>Many researchers already have their articles listed in various profiles created by databases such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scopus.com\/home.uri\">Scopus<\/a> o <a href=\"https:\/\/www.recursoscientificos.fecyt.es\/\">Web of Science<\/a>, as well as in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upv.es\/entidades\/ABDC\/infoweb\/bg\/info\/940433normali.html\">Senia<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/orcid.org\/\">ORCID<\/a> or in any number of scientific social networks, but this post focuses on what they can do to build their profile using Google Academic.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Do I really need another research profile?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Some of the reasons for setting up a Google Scholar profile are that, in addition to its high visibility, it is a very simple process and its maintenance is nearly automatic thanks to Google technology. Furthermore, it provides updated statistics on citations such as the H index, and it is a useful tool for locating potential collaborators. But perhaps the most important thing is that with this profile, you can <strong>contribute to raising the global visibility of the UPV, <\/strong>since Google Scholar is used as the basis for rankings such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webometrics.info\/en\">Webometric ranking<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/scholar.google.com\/\">Google Scholar<\/a><\/strong>, the scientific and academic version of Google, offers the possibility of creating a research profile based on the articles and publications that it collects from academic editors and repositories, such as the UPV repository, <a href=\"https:\/\/riunet.upv.es\/\">Riunet<\/a>. Despite the possible lower accuracy of academic Google, <a href=\"https:\/\/harzing.com\/resources\/publish-or-perish\/tutorial\/google-scholar\">recent studies<\/a> confirm its greater coverage, especially in certain fields.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you already have a Google Scholar profile<\/strong>, you should review the following points:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Name: <\/strong>it should coincide with the scientific authorship, with the name in ORCID and with that of all the research profiles.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Affiliation: <\/strong>include only the <em>Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Val\u00e8ncia<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Research interest: <\/strong>fill in this section with a maximum of 5 keywords that reflect the fields of research. Choose terms that are not overly general or overly specific and preferably in English. Standardizing them with your fellow researchers helps to create community.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Confirmation email: <\/strong>a\u00f1adir el correo oficial<em> usuario@upv.es.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Homepage: <\/strong>in this field you can add your personal web page, or at least an <a href=\"https:\/\/orcid.org\/\">ORCID web address<\/a>, which has already become a standard persistent digital identifier for researchers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Public profile: <\/strong>make sure to check the box to make the profile public.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Publications:<\/strong> review the list of articles and documents to ensure authorship, remove non-relevant ones and add the ones that are missing through the search engine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>A few final recommendations<\/strong> include a professional photo, add co-authors who already have a profile in Google Scholar, and configure the updates so that you can review the articles before including them in the profile<\/p>\n<p><strong>If, on the contrary, you do not have a Google Scholar profile yet<\/strong>, you should use this tutorial: \u201cCreating a Google Academic Profile Step-by-Step\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: 1px solid #CCC; border-width: 1px; margin-bottom: 5px; max-width: 100%;\" src=\"\/\/www.slideshare.net\/slideshow\/embed_code\/key\/j0DQEnrNd39jwS\" width=\"510\" height=\"420\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"> <\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Custom sessions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A<strong> training session will be held on March 27th<\/strong> to help create or review Google Scholar research profiles.
