Nuria Mart\u00ednez and Daniel Ausina<\/strong>, graduates in Dentistry from the Universitat de Val\u00e8ncia<\/a> and the Master’s Degree in Periodontics and Osteointegration in iViO, will carry out their doctoral thesis under the UPV-iViO Chair<\/a> of the Campus Gand\u00eda of the Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Val\u00e8ncia<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"Nuria Mart\u00ednez: “It is a really huge opportunity to have the support of this chair.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mart\u00ednez decided to study dentistry because of her interest in the health field since she was a child. Once she started her undergraduate studies, she found that she liked it even more than she expected and “couldn’t be more delighted,” to realize that this was her true calling.<\/p>\n

She is very appreciative of the opportunity to have the support of the chair to continue researching and expanding her knowledge, as well as contributing to the scientific community. Mart\u00ednez’ expectation of the iViO-UPV Chair is “an enriching and very productive stay to take full advantage of” in order to continue with her education. <\/strong>She thinks that key to the research being carried out by the iViO-UPV in all fields of dental education, are the efforts made by their teaching staff to provide \u201cthe most up to date and quality curriculum,\u201d which she is sure that will have a very positive influence on the completion of her doctoral thesis.<\/p>\n

Of the many areas of interest that she wants to explore in her thesis, which will be supervised by Dr. Joan Faus<\/strong><\/a>, she is most keen to focus on the evolution of tissues in different situations after surgery. After completing her thesis, Mart\u00ednez hopes to continue her dental education and does not rule out dedicating herself to teaching new dentists.<\/p>\n

\"\"Daniel Ausina: \u201cHaving the facilities and expertise of the UPV and iViO teaching staff at my disposition will really help me to develop my thesis.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ausina, who also has a Postgraduate Degree in Implantology from the UMH<\/a>, decided to study dentistry so he could be “in more direct contact with the patient” in comparison with other fields of healthcare.<\/p>\n

His motivations to do his thesis through the iViO-UPV Chair began after finishing his undergraduate studies when, according to Ausina, “you are no longer under pressure to study just to pass your exams and you begin to study for the pleasure of learning.”<\/strong> His passion for research is tied to the continuous innovations in dentistry, where \u201cnew materials are constantly coming out that are often not well researched,\u201d in his own words. In this regard, graphene is \u201cconsidered by many to be the perfect material for dental prostheses, since it would solve all the deficiencies of current materials\u201d. For this reason, he has decided to focus his thesis in the Campus Gandia chair on the study of the pros and cons of this material, as well as its real applications. In particular, he wants to focus his dissertation, which will be supervised by Dr. Francisco\u00a0 Camarena\u00a0<\/strong><\/a> and Dr. Joan Faus<\/strong>, on the study of PMMA polymers doped with graphene to determine whether they are valid materials to use as definitive implant-supported fixed prostheses.<\/p>\n

For this reason, he is convinced that having the facilities and expertise of the UPV and iViO teaching staff at his disposition will really help me to develop his thesis<\/strong>. His main goal is “to learn, both on a personal and professional level, to offer patients the best techniques and materials to solve their problems and improve their quality of life.\u201d After completing his thesis, Ausina wants to continue his education in periodontics, surgery and prostheses to literally “be able to offer my patients the very best of myself.”<\/p>\n
